Artist Statement

Tao- a word meaning the rationilization of human conduct fit to each being by their level of consciousness. Many regard the word 'conscious' to mean simply being awake, alive, attentative- very tip of the iceberg. My name is Tracee Fedi and I am fascinated by the mind and how it operates differently for each and every person. In a collection of photos, videos, and written pieces I hope to delve into my own realm of consciousness that I feel falls flat for many into living as a sentient being on the surface in everyday life. Here I will facilitate looking beyond the facade each scenario wears. I believe that ignorance is the downfall of human nature and society and if my insights could even get one person to open their mind and consider an alternate way of looking at an idea, disecting a belief or contemplating a thought than the purpose of my art will be fulfilled. It's ignorance vs. consciousness in the fight of evolution- survival of the fittest. I'd just like to give people another light to view human behavior and an optimistic notion that "all truths are universal." <Quote by. John Lennon>

  2. You're right. Ignorance is our greatest downfall. I admire this quote by Elbert Hubbarb: “If men could only know each other, they would neither idolize nor hate.” Hubbarb is suggesting that what we know about another person is only what he or she chooses to show us. We are all complicated human beings, brought up in different ways, with different experiences. Before judging others, we must understand and be aware of their differences. And even then we should not judge but accept this diversity.

  6. yeah I definitely agree with you that ignorance is the downfall of humanity...I like that its your goal to open up people's minds. I feel like if people were trained to respect, admire, and try to understand differences in others rather than alienate them then we could move towards. awesome artist statement. well written you used some cool words I had to look up haha
